Before that milestone, join The Wisdom Bar for a social lecture experience exploring America’s 1976 Bicentennial, a moment defined by spectacle, patriotism, and cultural tension.

In a time of political scandal and economic uncertainty, the country came together through large-scale celebrations, national campaigns, and iconic events like the Freedom Train and OpSail ’76.

Led by Luke G. Boyd, this talk examines how 1976 shaped national identity and what it reveals about the upcoming 2026 celebrations.

During the evening, we will explore:

• The role of media, branding, and spectacle in shaping public memory
• What 1976 reveals about America today

Luke G. Boyd is a Public Historian dedicated to making history accessible, engaging, and relevant.

With over 15 years of experience across museums and National Park sites, he brings deep expertise and storytelling to every talk. He is a licensed NYC sightseeing guide, has presented with the New York Adventure Club and the New Jersey Public Scholars Program, and is co-host of the Morbid Museum Podcast.
