GrassRoots Culture Camp
Tuesday July 14th Red Hot Louisiana Blues, Rock n' Roll, and Swamp Pop Night
w/ Johnny Nicholas and The Cool Drivers
The dances, as are all nightly Culture camp dances July 12-15 are open to the public. You do not need to participate in or sign up for the camp. The dances are community dances under the GrassRoots Dance Tent. All are welcome!
You can make it an extra fun night by joining the dinners before the dance which are also open to the public.
JOHNNY NICHOLAS has spent a lifetime soaking up the flavor of such vibrant music scenes as Chicago, Southwest Louisiana, and Texas (which he’s called home now for 45 years). While he is primarily thought of as a blues legend and gifted storyteller, his music is full-spectrum Americana — a rich gumbo of blues, Southwest Louisiana soul and Texas swing and honky tonk. We are excited to welcome Johnny back to GrassRoots Culture Camp.
THE COOL DRIVERS are David Greely of Steve Riley and The Mamou Playboys on fiddle, Blake Miller of The Revelers and Old Fashioned Aces on accordion, Brian Williams of The Goners on upright bass and Michael “Leroy” Bram of Jason Mraz and The Weight Band on drums.
Together, Johnny Nicholas and The Cool Drivers are going to steer us right on out on to the dance floor with some real live Red Hot South Louisiana Rock ‘n’ Roll, Blues, and Swamp Pop.
