Palace Ipswich may not be on the second Saturday of every month any more, but we're keeping their spot warm for them with a selection of queer acts!
You'll see Martini Ice pretty regularly through the year, and a range of LGBTQIA+ acts - in March we're featuring the fabulous Red Hill (band, not suburb), Clover Love and Mitchell Duke, for a fabulous evening of indie-folk fun!
Red Hill are an indie folk rock band, primarily operating from the southside of Brisbane/Meanjin: not to be confused with the inner-northern suburb, which in the 2016 census had a population of 5,560. Quirky & queer, they are here to rock your socks off and then gently and lovingly place them back on your feet. The Banshees team caught them at the Woodford Folk Festival and had a fantastic time bopping along with their catchy tunes.
Clover Love brings a whole lot of feelings to the table, packaged in a nice folk-rock parcel. Sometimes kitschy, sometimes heartfelt, and always catchy, they write humble tunes that can be sung in the shower or danced to with mates. Front-person Courtz used to play in a couple of bands with one of the Banshees crew, and they played some of their first shows with Clover Love at our bar!
Mitchell Duke is an emerging force in the next wave of pop storytellers. A singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist from Brisbane, Australia, Mitchell is carving out a space defined by raw emotion, haunting melodies, and a voice that cuts deep. This will be our first introduction to Mitchell's music, and we can't wait to welcome him to our stage!
