18th Annual World Religions Conference, Red Deer:Registration: https://RDP2025.eventbrite.ca
In every era and culture, humankind has sought answers to profound questions about existence: Why are we here? What is the purpose of life? What happens after death? These universal inquiries touch the core of human experience and find expression across faith traditions, philosophies, and scientific exploration.
At the 19th Annual World Religions Conference, RDP, we would like to explore these themes through diverse perspectives. From religious doctrines to secular philosophies, we aim to foster a nuanced understanding of how our worldview shapes our approach to living a purposeful life and facing the inevitability of death.
The topic, "Living with Purpose: Perspectives on Life & Death," invites us to reflect on two fundamental aspects of existence:
Is there a grand design behind human existence, or are we the result of chance? What role do faith, morality, and community play in shaping our purpose?
How do different traditions view death—as an end, a transition, or a gateway to a higher reality? How do these perspectives influence the way we live?
These questions are central to the teachings of all faiths and the focus of much philosophical discourse. You are invited to examine these themes from the lens of your traditions, scriptures or expertise, in a spirit of respect, curiosity, and shared learning.
Please consider addressing the following questions:
· What does your tradition or philosophy identify as the ultimate purpose of life? How does this purpose shape daily living and personal aspirations?
· How does your faith or worldview conceptualize death? Is it seen as an end, a transition, or a transformation? How does this understanding influence attitudes towards mortality?
· What practical guidance does your tradition or philosophy offer for living a life aligned with its vision of purpose? Are there specific rituals, practices, or principles that support this goal?
· How does your perspective on life and death address existential challenges, such as suffering, loss, or the fear of the unknown?
· Are there areas where your tradition or philosophy overlaps with others on this topic? How might these commonalities contribute to interfaith or intercultural dialogue?
The unifying thread among various perspectives is the call to live authentically, ethically, and with mindfulness of our shared humanity. This conference seeks to build bridges by exploring these themes in depth, embracing both commonalities and distinctions.
