The recteq Brawl at Ken’s Ace Hardware is a charitable event dedicated to the Ultimate Pellet Grill... better known as recteq! recteq Fans will travel from all over the region to enjoy delicious food that only a recteq can produce, along with live music, cooking demonstrations, and a few tasty beverages. At our recteq Brawl, "Tasters" will sample savory & sweet grilled meats, seafood, veggies, pizzas, and desserts cooked up by cooking teams as they show off their unique recipes and grilled specialties for everyone to savor.

TASTER TICKETS

Get ready to rock your taste buds and enjoy unlimited food tasting all day! Taster Tickets to the recteq Brawl grant you access to unlimited food samples from all of our Cooking Teams performing their unique recipes on dozens of recteq grills that you will judge. Cooking Teams work diligently to provide their best dishes for the crowd constantly. Whether you're a veteran recteq fan or just love food, festivals, music, and fun, there's plenty for everyone!

RECTEQ Brawl Cooking Teams should consist of 1-2 Team Captains with additional helpers (up to 4 total people per team).

RECTEQ Brawl opens to the public at 10:00am, however, we ask that Cooks arrive as early as 6am but no later than 8:00am to unload vehicles/trailers, set up their cooking station (approx. 12'x12' space), and begin cooking. We'll have some volunteers available to help teams unload and set up. From 10:00am-3:00pm, Cooking Teams showcase their skills by serving bite-size samples of their favorite recipes throughout the day for our Taster guests to enjoy. Cooking teams should participate/cook for the entire duration of the event. You don't always have to be serving, but you should always be working on your next dish.

2025 RECTEQ Brawl will feature the "People’s Choice” Competition and Steak Competition. As Tasters enter the event, each will be given 3 votes to cast for the cooking team that they feel produced the best results on the recteq Grill.

There are no specific categories or additional rules for this "people's choice" competition. This allows cooks to prepare a variety of recipes throughout the day and demonstrate the versatility of the recteq! All cooks are encouraged to participate as there are no special requirements, additional costs, or ingredients, and the winners will receive a distinguished prize once the votes are tallied!

Steak Competition will be a judged event. Teams will be given boxes for turn-in. Judges will score on a 1-25 scale (A score of 1 is inedible, a score of 25 is excellent) based on Appearance, Flavor/Taste, and Tenderness/Texture.

There will be 3 judges, 1 steak per team. Never try to mark your container box. Judging is blind. Steaks are expected to be cooked to a medium rare. Undercooked/raw meat/food will not be judged. Unlike other contests, this contest is all about flavor.

► No outside alcohol is permitted unless you are using it specifically for a recipe. Adult beverages along with water/tea are sold by the charity and benefit their organization.

► Experience cooking on a recteq is always helpful but is not required.

► Cooking teams should participate/cook for the entire duration of the event. You don't always have to be serving, but you should always be working on your next dish.

► Selling, soliciting, or merchandising of products not offered by ACE Hardware is not allowed without prior approval.

A recteq Brawl Grill is a grill that you pre-purchase before the event at a substantial discount. NEW recteq deckboss 800’s are cooked on the day of Brawl by one of our registered cooking teams, and then you pick it up at the end of the day!
