About this Event
Join Dr. Rasul A. Mowatt for a discussion on Camp Mueller, one of the first African American outdoor focused camps in the nation, located in Cuyahoga Valley National Park (CVNP).
Dr. Mowatt, as co-principal investigator, led a study that examined historical records around Camp Mueller. The study addressed the need for further interpretation of African American history in and near CVNP.
The study’s findings acknowledge that preserving Camp Mueller’s history is intertwined with the broader socio-political history of Cleveland, which includes nuanced intersections of race and class.
