HURRAH!! Record Store Day is back in its usual third Saturday of April slot - which this year falls on Saturday 18th April!
The day is all about celebrating music, buying something unique and sought after, while supporting your local record store.
As per usual, it will be first come first served (we abide by a code of conduct), so if you want to acquire a release which has been pressed in a small quantity, then you may need to get here quite early!
On top of that, and probably more importantly, you need to let us know that something is on your wish-list, otherwise, we may not order it!
At previous RSD's, we haven't done too badly at predicting what you'd like to see, but there's always a small handful of disappointed visitors that come in asking for something that we didn't get in!
So, PLEASE PLEASE TELL US NOW, IS THERE SOMETHING WE SHOULD KNOW (sorry, Duran Duran moment)!
All RSD releases are very limited, and everything we will have in store on the day would have been ordered by us, either according to your requests or what we feel customers may like.
It’s unlikely that we’ll be able to order everything on the RSD list, but the more requests we receive, the more likely we are to order to meet the potential demands!
The list is yet to be published (usually early/mid-Feb), but you should eventually be able to browse it via the link below: https://www.recordstoreday.co.uk/rsd-list/
____________________________________________
If you have not taken part in Record Store Day before, it will be good to give you a few pointers which might help to make it an enjoyable and satisfying experience for you...
1. Nothing can be reserved - not for staff, friends, regular customers, royalty, pets, or anyone else.
2. If you request some items from your wish-list, we will order them, though we cannot guarantee that we will receive the quantity ordered, so some releases may arrive in smaller quantities than we ordered - there are over 250 shops taking part after all, so there’s not always enough to go round.
3. There is a code of conduct that all shops sign, which cannot be broken, otherwise we will be banned from taking part in RSD in the future. This means everyone will get a fair opportunity of getting something they want or like - you might just have to be near the front of the queue if you want the most limited items (assuming that’s what you’re after).
4. The day is about having some fun, chatting with like-minded music fans, picking up something special, something unexpected, something you like the look of, something you don't like the look of (you still reading? :o)), cool packaging, variations, extras, freebies, and adding great music to your record collection - all whilst supporting independent record shops. This is a really important day in our calendar - stock is not sale or return - so we will try to order wisely to avoid having loads of left-over stock!
5. We will aim to open up to customers at 8am, but we will adopt a staggered approach to avoid creating too much congestion inside the shop - so we may use a 5 or 6 customers at a time rule, though we do have neighbouring residents and businesses, so we need to be mindful of them too. We should have time to start preparing wish lists for the first 10-20 (if there are that many of you) or so in the queue, and then we can let people browse the racks a few at a time to pick up other items, which will help to ensure a comfortable visit.
6. You can only purchase one copy of each item (e.g. no multiples).
7. Bring your wish-list on a piece of paper (or a phone) if you are planning to get in the queue early – that way we can take a note of it, and get your bag prepared for you to keep the queue flowing (though we wouldn't want to rush you out either).
We hope this will help you understand how it all works!
Last year (2025) was our best one ever, so we will stick with the same approach (and team), and hand out raffle tickets that will be used for a prize draw later in the day.
See you on the 18th April, but hopefully before then!
Steve and the Team!
