About this Event

How do we make sense of past pain and build a path forward with resilience, self-compassion, and voice?

In this 90-minute workshop, we’ll be partnering with 16 Strong Project, a mental health education and advocacy nonprofit, to explore mental health through the lens of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and the healing potential of yoga not as exercise, but as a practice of presence, regulation, and reconnection.

Part 1: Circle & Conversation (30 minutes)

We’ll gather in community to discuss a simple but powerful three-step framework:

Recognize: Learn about ACEs and how early adversity can shape our bodies, emotions, and relationships, offering language to understand what you or loved ones may have experienced.

Resist: Discover how yoga and breath can serve as gentle, accessible tools to build resilience, calm the nervous system, and interrupt cycles of stress.

Reveal: Reflect on how you can tell your story as an act of healing and empowerment for yourself and others.

This conversation is grounded in compassion, not pressure. There’s no expectation to disclose, but only to listen, reflect, and be held in a judgment-free space.

Part 2: Embodied Integration (60 minutes)

We’ll move into a beginner-friendly yoga practice designed to help integrate our discussion through the body. Using gentle movement, mindful breath, and restful postures, we’ll cultivate inner awareness, safety, and self-trust.

Who is this for?

Anyone curious about the links between mental health, childhood experiences, and somatic (body-based) healing, including those with lived experience of adversity, caregivers, community workers, and allies. No yoga experience is needed.

What to bring:

Comfortable clothing, an open mind, and anything that supports your comfort.

**Note: This event will be promoting mental health education and advocacy, and is not a clinical or therapeutic service. All identities, backgrounds, and healing journeys are welcome.
