About this Event

Join California Humanities for a powerful evening of storytelling, reflection, and connection at a special live recording of Reclaiming Our Voices: Voices of Indigenous Peoples of California.

Held at the Autry Museum of the American West on Saturday, June 27, 2026, this live event brings together Indigenous leaders, artists, educators, and community voices to share perspectives that deepen our understanding of California—past, present, and future

This event is part of a new six-part podcast series by California Humanities, hosted by Story Weaver Victorio L. Shaw Esq., a citizen of the Hoopa Valley Tribe and Chief Judge for the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians and the Robinson Rancheria Tribal Courts. The series centers Indigenous voices and lived experiences, creating space for communities to define their narratives on their own terms.

As the nation approaches the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, this conversation invites us to reflect more deeply on the histories, cultures, and futures that shape our shared understanding
