🎶 The Music
DJ Marcel Surreal
Musician and dancer, born into a musical family, Sly & the Family Stone, Marcel was raised in a diverse background of sound, entering the arts of dance (breaking and house), and dj’ing (disco and deep tech) as a teen at local parties, later evolving his sound with other electronic and world music.
As a musician, Marcel also occasionally performs live Afro/Arabic based percussion in his dj sets, adding an organic feel to his music curation for the dancer.
Marcel has Dj’d and danced at ecstatic dance events from Tulum to Haifa, from Tel-Aviv to Atitlàn, from Sacred Valley to Sacramento, and from Nevada City to the birthplace and mecca of ecstatic dance, San Francisco, and consistently brings fresh new vibes from his global experiences to his music curations.
🌀 Our Community
RECLAIM is about creating a vibrant space where bipoc and queer folks can come together, connect, and vibe as one community. Our goal? To build bridges and unite, so we can dance our way into the future we’ve been dreaming of.
We’re calling all BIPOC folks—whether you’re Black, Indigenous, or a Person of Color—to join us on the dance floor. And we’re calling all QUEER folks—gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans, questioning, gender-nonconforming, or however you proudly define your queerness.
To be clear: if you’re white and queer, come on down! If you’re brown and straight, we want you too! The only thing we ask is that you bring your best self and be ready to groove.
Our Vision
RECLAIM envisions a world where bipoc and queer people are moving towards liberation together. We center the Black, the Brown, and Queer because now, more than ever, we need fresh visions to create a thriving world for all—regardless of who we love, how we identify, or the melanin in our skin.
Our mission is to unite BIPOC and Queer dancers through communal movement, self-expression, and meaningful exchange. By dancing together, we empower ourselves to build deeper connections, find courage, and co-create a more just and compassionate world.
RECLAIM stands in solidarity with Black, Brown, Queer, Indigenous, Palestinian, Congolese, Sudanese and all people resisting oppressive systems.
