Beyond Form, Beyond Limits: A Visual Poetics Workshop
About this Event
Are you looking for new ways to experiment with form? Want to make your writing more visual, generate new imagery and ideas, or find your way into a poem that isn't coming together through words alone? Maybe you're curious about what happens when you stop asking what a poem should look like and start asking what else it could become
Come experiment with us. Beyond Form, Beyond Limits is a space for writers and artists to get curious about what happens when we stop treating the poem as a fixed thing and start playing with what it can become. Together, we’ll experiment with form as a way to invent new possibilities for how language can move, communicate, and take shape.
No previous experience with visual poetry or visual art is necessary. Come ready to cut things apart, black things out, draw through language, rearrange what already exists, and see where the disruption takes us! Bring your curiosity, your unfinished ideas, and your willingness to experiment.
Facilitated by Lyn Patterson, a poet, visual artist, and educator who has spent years practicing and teaching visual poetics and experimenting with the relationship between language, image, and form.
