About this Event

RECLAIM. Dance. Connect. Belong.

Get ready to move. This is your space—our space. We, who are bipoc, queer, or both*, gather together to dance, sweat-soaked, luxuriating in unapologetic vibes. In community, we reclaim our joy, strength, and vitality through the power of collective movement and heartfelt connections.

RECLAIM is where we commune, celebrating our bodies, stories, sorrows, and delights. So bring your full self. Serve looks, serve vibes, and let's create something powerful together. From the dance floor to workshops and discussions, RECLAIM is about connecting deeper and celebrating ourselves and each other loudly.

RECLAIM is a daytime dance party that is for us and by us!

DJ BLUMOON
As an intuitive sound weaver, DJ, instrumentalist, vocalist and producer, Blu Moon creates electronic journeys channeled by Spirit while exploring trance states and spirit filled heart music. Sharing the intersections of Black electronic, jazz, ritual and ambient sounds from across the African diaspora. Experimenting with sound originated from experiencing and playing as a source of ritual, of praise and direct connection with God. It was Black worship music in the Deep South paired with the uncovering of Afro diasporic dance music that has transformed the sounds of their heart.

Community Agreements
For your first dance, we ask all dancers and participants to sign the RECLAIM community agreements. We are intentional in how we interact with each other. You only need to sign them once.

Music

At RECLAIM, the music takes you on a journey of expression and connection. We start slow, giving you time to warm up your body and settle into the space. As the rhythm builds, the energy rises, and you'll feel your blood pumping as genres shift and new movements emerge. We end slow again, so we can settle our bodies and soak in all that we created together.
We ensure that our DJs curates a dynamic set centering music by BIPOC and queer artists across genres–encouraging you to explore your movement.
The Space

Bandaloop has sprung dance floors, multiple dance rooms, giant windows with natural light, an upstairs mezzanine with snacks and spot for conversation, multiple bathroom stalls, filtered water, and more!
Dress Code

We encourage you to dress as fabulous, comfy, expressive, or as plain as you’d like for the dance. We ask that the dance floor remain shoe-free; however, soft dance shoes are welcome if needed. Please note that we are an all-ages event and require chests to be covered for all bodies, whether you identify as a woman, man, non-binary, trans, or other.
Keep Us Healthy

If you are feeling sick, please do not come! If you already have a ticket, send us an e-mail at [email protected] to transfer your ticket to our next dance.

Accessibility

The venue is ADA accessible, with seating available in the dance room and a quiet space for sensory breaks. The event will feature amplified sound and natural light. If you enjoy scented products, we ask that you use them minimally. If you need assistance or have specific accessibility needs, please contact us at [email protected].
All Ages

RECLAIM is an all-ages event, but we ask that all people under 16 years old be supervised by an adult at all times.
Our Vision

RECLAIM visions a world where BIPOC and Queer people are moving towards liberation together. We center the Black, the Brown, and Queer because now, more than ever, we need fresh visions to create a thriving world for all—regardless of who we love, how we identify, or the melanin in our skin.

Our mission is to unite BIPOC and Queer dancers through communal movement, self-expression, and meaningful exchange. By dancing together, we empower ourselves to build deeper connections, find courage, and co-create a more just and compassionate world.

RECLAIM stands in solidarity with Black, Brown, Queer, Indigenous, Palestinian, Congolese, Sudanese and all people resisting oppressive systems.
*Identity

RECLAIM is about creating a vibrant space where bipoc and queer folks can come together, connect, and vibe as one community. Our goal? To build bridges and unite, so we can dance our way into the future we’ve been dreaming of.

We’re calling all BIPOC folks—whether you’re Black, Indigenous, or a Person of Color—to join us on the dance floor. And we’re calling all QUEER folks—gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans, questioning, gender-nonconforming, or however you proudly define your queerness.

To be clear: if you’re white and queer, come on down! If you’re brown and straight, we want you too! The only thing we ask is that you bring your best self and be ready to groove.
