Show Title: ENTHUSIASTIC AMATEUR
Artist’s Statement:
The artwork you’re about to see came from workshops I’ve attended at Open Space Art Gallery over the last four years, with particular emphasis on abstract painting. The tone and imagery in several of the pieces are linked to the music that inspired them.
This exhibition is designed to provide the spectator with three viewing options: You can look at the artwork and make your own interpretation, you can read the Exhibition Catalog to learn my intention for the artwork, and you can listen to the music that inspired much of the artwork. (FULL DISCLOSURE: I’m hoping you’ll choose all three options!!)
A couple of years ago, Amanda told me I have an “untrained, child-like willingness to just paint what I want to paint in my own style” – that remains the best description of my artwork 😊 I am incredibly thankful to Amanda and all of the artisans at Open Space that have helped me bring this artwork to life.
