After years of majestic adventures in the lands of the south, Nick finally visits Vienna for a series of appearances one wouldn't forget. Of course we wouldn't dare to not appear in Linz, wo beginnt's. Our last stop, the bar of our tormented hearts, Culturcafé Smaragd. This evening Odysséas Manidakis (bouzoúki, vocals) and Nick Adonópoulos (guitar, vocals) will play greek rebétika songs and selected Laiká for the heart and the soul. Short Bio
Nikos and Odysseas have been playing together since 2013 when they met in Corfu during their studies at the Ionian University. They started performing rebetiko music in various venues and tavernas in Corfu and continued playing in Athens after completing their studies in 2017. They have given concerts in various cities and islands across Greece (Volos, Thessaloniki, Kardamyli, Kalamata, Ithaca, Anafi, Kythira, and more) as well as in Linz, Austria. What sets them apart from other rebetiko groups is primarily the unique harmonic affinity and the strong connection between their voices, as both of them sing. Their repertoire consists of refreshing kantadorika rebetika (both pre-war and post-war), carefully selected lively laika songs, and a few more entechno pieces from modern Greek songwriting. The repertoire also includes some original compositions by Odysseas. We look forward to taking you on a journey into the world of rebetiko and wish you an enjoyable listening experience!
