Event Title: Rebirth and Transformation: The Serpentine Journey of the SoulAbout the Artist:
Lori is a dedicated Shamanic Practitioner, Earth Keeper, Healer & Hampicamiyoq (medicine women). Lori is a weaver of life, grandmother, teacher, artist and mentor.
Artist’s Exploration:
Dive into the profound journey of rebirth, renewal, and transformation with this captivating showcase at PINK ALLIGATOR GALLERY. Lori explores themes of reclamation, reform, and renovation through a series of works that delve deep into the concept of transformation from the inside out.
The exhibition, titled “Rebirth,” invites viewers to explore the lower world of intuition and instinct, symbolized by the snake—a creature of both fear and fascination. The snake here is not just a reptile but a metaphor for the process of mulching and shedding skin, symbolizing personal metamorphosis from the mundane to the divine, from snake to dragon, from earthbound to sky-dancing bird.
The artworks illuminate the innards of intuition, showcasing the rebirth of authenticity where one lives from the inside out, their guts exposed in vulnerability and truth.
Cultural and Mythological Connections:
* Mythological Elements: The exhibition draws on various cultural symbols like Aya, Ayahuasca, Pachamama, Amaru, Sachamama, names that resonate with the vibrational energy of Mother Earth. These elements explore the instinctual fear of the unknown, especially when facing the transformative power of the snake.
* Dark Feminine: The exhibit reinterprets the myth of Adam and Eve, where the snake is not merely a demon but a guide to confronting and embracing one’s inner demons, exploring themes of the dark, the feared, and the unexamined.
* Tiamat and Chaos: The works also touch upon Tiamat, the primordial serpent from Mesopotamian mythology, representing the chaos before the cosmos, symbolizing the chaos before one’s personal transformation or the shedding of one’s skin.
* Hindu Mythology: The snake or serpent in this context also connects to ancient Hindu tales of Rahu and Ketu, the head and tail of the serpent respectively, symbolizing eclipses and the duality of human nature - desire, shame, greed, fear, and division.
Artist’s Vision:
This show is an invitation to play, explore, and celebrate uniqueness, to delve into the depths of one’s psyche, and to emerge transformed. It’s a journey through the layers of self, confronting and claiming the parts often left in the shadows, leading to a rebirth that is both personal and universal.
Come witness the transformation, embrace the chaos before the rebirth, and leave with a new understanding of self through the art of transformation.
