Rebel Voices: Healing From The Inside Out
About this Event
Beyond the Headlines: The Real South Side.
We all know what the evening news says. Now, it’s time to hear what it’s actually like to grow up, live, teach, and raise children on the South Side of Chicago told directly by the community voices who are too often overlooked.
Rebel for Peace invites you to a powerful documentary screening of Rebel Voices.
This film captures the unfiltered reality of our neighborhoods. You will hear from 4th–8th grade “mini rebels” sharing what it’s like to feel scared to play outside, contrasted with community elders recalling how different childhood used to be. Through the lenses of youth facilitators, educators, principals, and parents, we explore our community's genuine challenges alongside our deepest points of pride—our food, our music, and the undeniable spirit of being from Chicago.
Why You Need to Be in the Room
This isn’t just a movie screening; it’s a space for community action. Rebel Voices brings us together to create meaningful dialogue, inspire civic engagement, and hold space for healing-centered conversations. Come see what is actively being done right now to heal and empower the South Side.
Exclusive Takeaway: Every attendee will receive a curated Healing Guide to accompany the film release, featuring reflection prompts, wellness resources, and local community information to continue the conversation at home.
