OPIRG Guelph’s Rebel Knowledge Symposium is a convergence of academic and community research, activism, and art focused on social and environmental justice issues. The theme of the 2026 Symposium is HERE WE GO AGAIN: FIGHTING FASCISM THEN & NOW, and will be taking place on Feb 6-8 at the University Centre. Fascism is digging its claws into Canada and the United States, with rising trends in ultra-nationalism, militarism, social regression, and hateful opinions from contrarians going unchecked. With the growing popularity of rhetoric like “trad wives,” “red pill,” and “Canada First”, are we screwed? Not yet— we’re fighting back. The Symposium will feature panels, speakers, art displays, student or community projects focusing on how fascism is showing up in the present day, and most importantly, how to combat it. The event features FREE food and FREE childcare, and is FREE to attend.
