Rebel Book Club Denver x EXTREME DREAMS
About this Event
About the book:
Eva zu Beck walked away from a high-flying career and a picture-perfect life to travel solo through some of the most remote places, from a lone horse trek in Mongolia to a desert island in Yemen. Along the way, she built an online community and confronted the tension between a life of freedom and the need for home. An inspiring memoir about dismantling someone else's dream and finding the courage to build your own.
Why we chose it: "In a world that seems intent on locking us in gilded cages and behind screens, I want my book to stand as an ode to freedom, a call to blaze your very own trail and a blueprint for an adventurous life."

Your host for the evening: Jen Kaarlo Mendenhall
Writer, cultural storyteller, and longtime Rebel Book Club member, Jen explores ideas through the lenses of solo travel, reinvention after 40, and modern dating. Having lived in New York, London, and now Denver, she is passionate about creating welcoming spaces where curious minds connect over delicious books, discover new perspectives, and engage in conversations that linger long after the final page.
Biggest RBC impact: "One Rebel Book Club evening that has stayed with me all these years was a conversation with award-winning journalist Isobel Yeung, then at VICE, around In Extremis: The Life of War Correspondent Marie Colvin. I was admittedly a little starstruck, but even more moved by how she used her voice to bring important stories to light, stories that truly deserved to be seen. The room was filled with curious minds, giving the discussion an electric energy that perfectly captured what Rebel Book Club does so well: bringing thoughtful people together to listen, reflect, and see the world a little differently."
