Real Writers Circle - Reinvention as a Writer
About this Event
Real Writers Circle - Reinvention as a Writer
Sustaining a writing life isn’t easy. Even the most successful and widely published writers must navigate a publishing industry in flux, grappling with AI and competing for eyeballs with streamers, TikTok and other social media.
These industry realities mean writers may have to adapt and reinvent themselves as authors over the course of a career, switching genres or styles and writing under different pen names to appeal to different audiences.
A copywriter, bookseller, and playwright before she switched to fiction, author of three thrillers (her latest written under the pseudonym Robin Brookes), Brooke Robinson will be talking to us about how to reinvent yourself as a writer.
Agenda:
Connect, Learn, Share
1. Connecting: We believe that writers who know each other learn more. In this part of the evening, we actively facilitate a conversation between attendees. (This bit can be loud – in a good way.)
2. Hot Seat: With a speaker or a panel, we explore a topic/theme and promote sharing of expertise and knowledge among the group.
3. Reading: Up to two members share their work aloud. Listening to each other’s writing and offering feedback (if requested) informs our craft.
Meeting monthly, Real Writers Circle is a dedicated collective of writers who give and receive support, insights and advice as we improve our writing craft – for publication or otherwise. Circle members are un/published authors across any genre or form. The group is open to anyone who is intentional about their writing and wants to learn how to hone their craft.
