Ready, Set, Safe! Back-to-School Family Day

About this Event

Kick off the new school year with a morning of free family fun at Ready, Set, Safe! Back-to-School Family Day on Saturday, August 29, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Eastern Market Metro Plaza.

This free community event will bring together children, families, first responders, and neighborhood partners for an exciting celebration focused on safety, connection, and community pride. Meet local officers with the Metropolitan Police Department Touch-a-Truck featuring police vehicles and hands-on activities, while also enjoying face painting, live music, and interactive activities as you prepare for a safe and successful school year.

Children ages 5–18 can also take home a free backpack filled with school supplies while supplies last. Backpacks will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, and children must be present to receive one.
