Reading Leaves

Trees native to the British Isles have long held a special place in our stories, folklore and belief systems. From the sacred oak and protective rowan to the resilient birch and contemplative willow, trees have been woven into the cultural imagination of these islands for centuries, carrying meanings linked to protection, transformation, memory, wisdom, renewal and belonging.

In this relaxed drop-in 'Tree Stories' workshop, facilitated by local artist , you'll draw a symbolic tree card and explore its historic and folkloric associations through words, symbols, sketches or short stories.

Using your chosen tree as a creative prompt, you'll be invited to respond to its symbolism in your own way and contribute to a growing 'Digital Forest' - a collective archive of ideas, memories, tales, reflections and imagination.

Whether you're interested in folklore, creativity, mythology, nature, storytelling, or simply curious to see where a symbolic tree might lead you, this free drop-in session offers a space to pause, reflect and create.

No artistic experience required... just curiosity and creativity.

Suitable for adults and older teens. Booking not required.
