Join us for a lively, percussion-led session where families can explore rhythm, noise-making and nursery rhymes together.
About this Event

A participatory session connecting the radical tradition of Rough Music — street protest through noise, rhythm and improvised sound — with the familiar world of nursery rhymes. Inspired by E.P. Thompson's essay Rough Music Reconsidered, the work of Jack Zipes on nursery rhyme standards, and the Bonfire Society parades at the annual Bonfire Night in Lewes.

No instruments or musical experience are needed, and every participating child will receive a Rough Music Rhythm Reading Stick to take home.

Suitable for: Pre-school children, infants and their families

Booking: Drop in or book here.

Duration: Approximately 1 hour

Families are welcomed in as the session builds. Spontaneous interjection and improvisation are actively encouraged. No instruments needed.
