Re:Think. The Meaning Crisis

We are in the midst of a mental health crisis. There are increases in anxiety disorders, depression, despair, and suicide rates are going up in western nations. Could this crisis actually be a symptom of a deeper crisis of meaning.

We are drowning under waves of anxiety caused by the stresses of day-to-day living in our relationally isolated and fragmented world. We feel breathless and swamped by the rising tide of concern for the deeper issues of culture, politics and the environment. Yet we have no answers!

We intuitively know that we need more than the stories of success and fame posted on the front pages of our newspapers. But where can we find true meaning?

Dr Daniel Maughan will be speaking on these pressing issues.

He is Consultant Psychiatrist for the Specialist Psychosis Service in Oxford. He is also a researcher with Oxford University and studies the treatments and impacts of psychosis alongside sustainable quality improvement. He has been awarded the Royal College of Psychiatrists President's medal for his sevices to Psychiatry, has numerous scientific publications, authored national medical reports, and developed national level policy and commissioning guidance.
