RARSfest POTA Ramble

The Raleigh Amateur Radio Society (RARS) will rent a pavilion at each of the three POTA parks listed above and set up an HF station at each park capable of working SSB and CW. Each station will be staffed from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM by two RARS volunteers. RARS will provide refreshments such as water, coffee & snacks at each station. Each station will have a sign identifying it as part of the RARSfest POTA Ramble. Each station will have 2-meter FM radio communication on the 146.64 repeater for talk-in and coordination.
Hams are encouraged to stop by one or more of the stations and use the RARS radio set up to activate the park (making 10 QSOS). Hams may bring their own radio but are encouraged to use the antenna provided by RARS.
Upon stopping by the station, each visitor will be given a ticket:
Station 1’s ticket will be on yellow paper
Station 2’s ticket will be on pink paper
Station 3’s ticket will be on blue paper. The person will write their callsign and contact info on the ticket.
On the day of RARSfest, there will be a place at RARSfest to collect the RARSfest POTA Ramble tickets to be entered into a drawing to win a SpoolTenna. A person only needs to visit one station to qualify for a ticket in the drawing, but if a person visits all 3, they get 3 tickets, thus increasing their odds.
When a person turns in his ticket(s) they will be given a sticker to wear on his shirt that says “RARSfest POTA RAMBLE 2027 PARTICIPANT”.
Socializing at the stations is encouraged. Working Park to Park from station to station is encouraged. Hams are encouraged to spend as much time as they would like at any/each station socializing and showing off their POTA gear, etc.
At 7 PM, everyone is invited to meet at Rudinos, 8800 Harvest Oaks Drive, #102, Raleigh, NC 27615, for a Dutch treat dinner together and more socializing and POTA discussion.
