Rapacious Dews presents The Basics of Carnivorous Plants
We will discuss the basics of carnivorous plants and how to care for them. Learn about several fascinating varieties, including Drosera (sundews), Pinguicula (butterworts), Nepenthes (tropical pitcher plants), and Dionaea muscipula (Venus flytraps). Discover how each species attracts, traps, and digests its prey and the types of insects they most commonly capture.
Attendees will have the option to build their own miniature terrarium and take it home with a small carnivorous plant, care instructions, and all necessary supplies for an additional fee. These terrariums will be created using recycled glass containers. Following the presentation, participants can either follow along and create their own terrarium or simply stay and watch a larger terrarium build demonstration while learning techniques they can use for future projects. Those who choose not to make a terrarium are welcome to observe at no additional cost and take home the knowledge and inspiration to create one on their own.
