Prerequisites & Expectations

This is not a class for beginners. Armed Guards are expected to arrive proficient with their chosen duty weapon. Instruction will focus on DPS-required classroom topics, not specifically on how to shoot.

Ready to take your security career to the next level? Join us for a two-day, hands-on training experience designed to prepare you for certification as an Arizona Armed Security Guard—delivered in a fun, interactive, and professional setting.

✅ Eligibility Requirements

To attend, you must:

• Hold a current Arizona Unarmed Guard Card, or

• Have recently submitted your application for the Unarmed Guard Card

🧨🧨🧨What we need from you to make this whole thing work.

1. Create or verify your AZDPS account

• Go to
• Create an account or log in if you already have one.
• Make sure you know your password and can successfully sign in.

If you can’t log in or reset your password:

• You must call DPS IT Support: 602‑223‑2999 Option #8
• They are the only ones who can fix account access issues.

2. Create your Fieldprint Arizona account

• Go to
• Create an account if you don’t already have one.
• You will need this to schedule your fingerprint appointment.

• Once your Fieldprint account is active, you will use this after submitting your application to DPS, and paying.

4. Have both logins ready before class

• You must be able to log into both sites.
• We cannot delay the class or wait after class for you to fix login issues with either company.
• You need everything set up before attending.

5. If you're having issues after class.

• You will be sent home, with the needed paperwork and instructions to complete the process for your application. Once you submit to DPS, you can schedule your appointment with Fieldprint at the site closest to your home, you don't specifically have to travel farther to us to get the Fingerprints done at our office.

📅 Training Schedule

Day One – Classroom Instruction

Bring:

• Lunch, snacks, and refreshments (water/soda)

No Weapon Needed for Day #1

Don't forget to bring Identification with you, as it will be necessary to send to DPS.

• Additional Identification: Applicants whose place of birth is outside the United States may be asked to submit additional documentation for verification to DPS, including a passport or a birth certificate
• Military Retirees, please bring in your DD214, as DPS will require this for verification of Honorable Discharge.

Day Two – Firearms Range Qualification

Bring:

• Lunch, snacks, and refreshments (water/soda)

• Firearm: 9mm or higher caliber (.40, .45, etc.)

• Level 2 duty holster or better(Preferred)

• Two extra magazines with mag belt carrier

• 100 rounds of ammunition, minimum, just in case.

• Eye and ear protection

🎯 Qualification Standards

• Arizona DPS Requirement: 70% accuracy (175 points)

• LionHeart Standard: 90% accuracy (225 points), and ALL shots must remain on the silhouette, even if outside the scoring zone

💵 Additional Fees

• DPS Guard Card Processing Fee: $123.44 plus or minus(not included in course cost)
• Field Print Fingerprint Processing Fee: $8.25 (not included in course cost)

📌 DPS Application Process Update

All applications will now be submitted digitally through the DPS Website:

1. Create a DPS Account

Upload your Training Verification form and picture of ID directly to DPS.

2. Set Up a FieldPrint Account

Schedule and complete your digital fingerprinting through FieldPrint.

3. Digital Submission Only

The Tucson Lionheart office will no longer provide Ink Fingerprint Cards.

FieldPrint is now the exclusive method, enabling 100% online submission.
