Ramana Maharshi Self-Inquiry Group
About this Event
Spend time abiding in the bliss of the Self. Surrender the activity of the mind to the being-consciousness-bliss that you are.
In this group we will practice Atma-Vichara or Self-Inquiry together, a methodless method of resting as conscious awareness and inquiring into the “I thought” or sense of self.
This was popularised by Ramana Maharshi, a great sage of the previous century who spent many years abiding in the blissful silence of the self.
He attained the final liberation of freedom from all suffering. Transmitting through deep silence and the use of a few words he taught directly from his own experience.
What to expect:
Each gathering may include:
- A short introduction to Ramana Maharshi’s teachings
- Guided or silent Self-Inquiry practice
- Time sitting together in stillness
- Gentle reflections or readings from Ramana’s teachings
- Space for sincere sharing
- A quiet, supportive atmosphere for inner exploration
This group is open to both beginners and those already familiar with meditation, non-duality, Advaita Vedanta, or Ramana Maharshi’s teachings.
No previous experience is required – only a willingness to sit quietly, turn inward, and explore the nature of the self.
About the facilitator:
I’m George, I consider myself a devotee of Ramana, I have a living teacher in Tom Das with whom I’ve been having satsang with for 5 years. Prior to that I practiced zen meditation and was also involved in the Hare Krishna movement.
I’ve made meditation and the spiritual search a central focus of my life for the past 8 years. I’m not a teacher, I just have a love for these teachings and this practice and I wish to spend time with others in this loving and blissful space.
I’m pictured here by the holy mountain Arunachala, where Ramana sat for many years.
