About this Event
Parent & Baby Starting Solids Workshop (4-Week Series) 3/19/26-4/9/26
This 4-week workshop is designed for pregnant parents, new parents, and caregivers of babies under 1 year old—especially those preparing to start solids (though families who have already begun are very welcome).
Led by an Occupational Therapist and mother of two, this series offers grounded, evidence-informed guidance to help you approach starting solids with confidence, flexibility, and trust in your child. Rather than a one-size-fits-all method, we’ll explore multiple approaches to feeding and how to gently individualize them for your unique baby and family—while honoring that your approach can evolve over time.
You’ll gain tools to support your baby in developing a healthy, resilient relationship with food, while also reflecting on your own food values and experiences. Each week includes space for connection, discussion, and asking your personal questions in a supportive, judgment-free environment.
Weekly Flow:
- Week 1: Foundations of starting solids—when to begin, different approaches, and the benefits and challenges of each
- Week 2: Responsive feeding, developmental readiness, and best practices for introducing allergens
- Week 3: The role of language at mealtimes and exploring your own relationship with food
- Week 4: Special topics including the gut microbiome, ancestral eating, and Ayurvedic perspectives on starting solids
Resources Provided:
- Thoughtful recommendations for feeding equipment (high chairs, utensils, cups, plates)
- Trusted online resources and accounts for continued learning
About the Facilitator:
Tara Kaine, MS, OTR/L, CEIS is an Occupational Therapist and mother of two young children who are very different eaters. Along with professional training in child development and pediatric feeding, her lived experience as a parent has deepened her understanding in ways no course ever could. Her goal is not to tell you what to do, but to empower you with knowledge so you can make informed, confident decisions for your own child and family.
Her Why:
Being intentional about how we begin solids can shape not only a child’s health, but a family’s relationship with food for years to come. In a world full of conflicting information and highly processed foods, parents deserve clear, compassionate guidance that honors individuality. Supporting empowered parents—and helping raise resilient eaters—is at the heart of this work.
