About this Event
Join us for this very informative event with presentations, question and answer, plus eat while learning from our Sudanse leaders about the ongoing conflict creating unacompanied minors.
Community Changemakers is proud to welcome Florida Immigrant Coaltion (FLIC), Sadagaat USA, Sudan Nextgen, and the Sudanese American Physicians Association. We thank our sponsors American Muslims for Palestine (AMP), Nur Center, and Muslims Women's Organization (MWO).
The UNITED for Migrants team want's to ensure as many of the Sudanese and other needy children from varying ages match up with families who share their culture and at least their similar values. Catholic Charities is the only organization in Florida who can license people to foster or adopt such youth from an infant age to teens and even sibling groups. We are honored to have the Program Director Monica Farias join to teach all about about this process locally in Miami-dade and Broward County.
As the majority of these refugee children are Muslim we have also secured an islamic scholar Mufti Izhar Khan the Imam at Masjid Jamaat Al-Mumineen. He will speak on the virtues and guidance when fostering or adopting any children locally or those from overseas. This event is open to all.
We will also have two parents who have gone through the official processes to share thier personal experience and take questions live from the audience. Yasemin Saib will discuss how she became a licensed therapheutic foster parent. Aasma Khan will speak about her own family's journey as well as adoption processes in the United States, Morocco, and Pakistan. Don't miss this exclusive event!
Hear more from Gämer Al Hassan on how Sudan is facing a violent ongoing crisis which has caused a mass displacement of people including the arriving unaccompanied refugee minors. Invited organizations will have tables set outside on the patio regarding thier efforts supporting Sudan and local advocacy too.
Registration is required; please do so as soon as possible so sufficient food can be set accordingly. We will send the recording or live stream link of the event to all our registered guests for review.
