Join us for an intimate evening bringing together artists from Chile, Cuba, Argentina, and Australia — stripping the music back to its roots and sharing the stories, journeys and traditions behind the sounds.
Hosted by Frank Madrid, the night moves between live performances and conversation, featuring:
🇨🇺 Dr Adrian Hearn, Aloy Junco & Rodolfo “Panga” Hechavarría — an intimate Afro-Cuban percussion collaboration drawn from Melbourne’s SUNS OF MERCURY, exploring rumba, folkloric rhythms and the living traditions of Cuban music. 🪘
🇨🇱 Keko Virán — Chilean-born singer, guitarist and percussionist, and the force behind Kekoson, performing a rare solo set spanning Chilean songwriting and traditional Cuban son.
💃 Alejandro Flórez & Aya Kitaoji — flamenco voice, guitar, percussion and rhythm shaped by years of cultural exchange between Australia, Spain, Latin America and Japan.
🇦🇷 Brian Lee Silva, Cristian Saavedra & Leonardo Rodriguez — members of Melbourne’s THE NEW MONOS, taking their explosive mix of cumbia, reggae, Latin rock, hip-hop and South American folklore back to voice, guitar and percussion. 🔥
🎙 Hosted by Frank Madrid — Venezuelan-Australian cultural producer and world-music specialist who has spent decades bringing Latin American and international artists to audiences across Australia.
On Saturday, you’ll hear these artists with full bands, amplified sound and festival energy @ LA FIESTA - on Friday, come hear the stories behind the music.
