Maajela and Sub Magmatic

Maajela is a project taking influence from Hindustani, Carnatic, Sufi, Afrobeat, and Anatolian rock, aiming to create a powerful celebration of music through the different melodies, traditions, and rhythms these genres possess. Combining the sounds of the cultures they represent with contemporary, layered, and expressive writing, their music sits in a space within the ever-developing relationship between the East and West. Their compositions then reflect a growing global dialogue, where heritage and innovation coexist, and where traditional forms are reimagined through new perspectives.
This fusion creates an immersive listening experience that is emotionally powerful and sonically diverse. Emerging within the Australian music scene, Maajela has begun to connect with audiences who share a sense of in-betweenness—those navigating multiple identities, cultures, and influences. Their music offers a sense of belonging and recognition, capturing what it means to exist between worlds.
Sub Magmatic is a 7 piece instrumental dub/reggae band from Kaurna Yerta - Adelaide. Their sound echoes through heavy dub, roots, hip-hop and jungle, while consistently building pressure - then erupting onto the dance-floor. Sub Magmatic's self-titled EP innovates Aotearoa/Australian reggae, while blending hot and hypnotic improvised soundscapes. They have backed up global dub heavyweight ‘Pachyman’, as well as Kaurna’s very own reggae king’s ‘Dojo Rise’ and continue to explode throughout the Australian Scene.
