RAIA: António Bexiga performs at the Pekuri Library on Tuesday 5.11. at 18.00
RAIA is a solo project by Portuguese musician António "Tó-Zé" Bexiga. A sound journey around the latitudes of the viola campaniça, between tradition and experimentation with Iberian roots. The viola campaniça is one of the Portuguese violas and the audience will learn more about the instrument in addition to the live performance. Campaniça means 'from the countryside', Campaniça region (Baixo Alentejo). Raia is the border line between Portugal and Spain, a cultural ecosystem with common dots on both sides.
António Bexiga, affectionately known as Tó-Zé Bexiga, was born in Évora in 1976 and is an accomplished composer, arranger, musician, and producer hailing from the scenic Alentejo region of Portugal. He studied traditional repertoires and techniques but his work led him to explore the viola in many other music styles, from roots to experimental or electronics and soundscape. With a diverse portfolio, he has released numerous albums and has made significant contributions to cinema, theater, dance, circus, puppet theater, and performance arts.
RAIA is António [Tó-Zé] Bexiga: Viola campaniça, percussions, vocals, live loops.
The event is funded by the City of Oulu participatory budgeting.
