Raffles Singers Presents: Chiaroscuro - Light & Shadow in Songs

Chiaroscuro (italian for ‘light-dark’) explores how faith, grace, and love persist in our brightest days and darkest nights.
Contrast is at the heart of Chiaroscuro, a term for an artistic technique that foregrounds the contrasts between light and shadow. In our take, we capture the juxtapositions of ideas and tensions through centuries: featuring works from the Renaissance to the contemporary, and with both a Singapore premiere of acclaimed Filipino composer Dr Eudenice Palaruan’s Dayspring, as well as a world premiere of 17-year-old composer Tan Ding Wen’s Surge, illuminare, Jerusalem, no two moments will be the same. But in these contrasts, we find constants: the light and shadow are united in a search for faith, hope, love, and peace.

• Recommended admission age – Children above 5 years old.

• No admission for infants in arms.

• All patrons must purchase a ticket for entry.

• Admission is subject to tickets produced at the entrance.

• For the enjoyment of all audience members, our performance will start promptly at the time printed on the ticket.

• Please be seated 15 minutes before the performance start time.

• Due to the nature of the performance, admission will only be permitted at a suitable point once the performance has commenced.

• No Photography, Video recording or Audio recording is permitted for this event.

• Photography and video recordings will be taking place at the theatre foyer before and after the performance. As such, you may be photographed or be seen in our video footage.
