The Embassy of Romania in the Kingdom of Norway is pleased to invite you to an evening dedicated to contemporary Romanian literature, and its celebratory Norwegian translation.

The event will celebrate the Norwegian publication of 04:00 – cantos fra hjemmet by acclaimed Romanian author Radu Vancu, translated into Norwegian by Sindre Andersen and published by House of Foundation Forlag.
Born in 1978, Radu Vancu is regarded as one of the leading voices of contemporary Romanian literature, known both for his poetry and for his strong public engagement in support of democracy, culture and freedom of expression. 04:00 is part of a wider autobiographical project in which Vancu explores, with remarkable honesty and stylistic virtuosity, themes such as vulnerability, family life, despair, tenderness, memory and the redemptive force of art. Blending humour, surrealism and emotional intensity, the volume has become one of the landmark works of recent Romanian poetry.
We will have readings in Romanian and Norwegian by Radu Vancu and Sindre Andersen, as well as a panel discussion with both of them, moderated by Dragoș Cantea, Cultural Attaché of the Embassy of Romania.
In addition, we will welcome a special presentation of Steinar Lone dedicated to Max Blecher (1909–1938), one of the cult figures of modern Romanian literature, often compared to Franz Kafka. Steinar Lone will present and read excerpts from Blecher’s celebrated novel Hendelser i den umiddelbare uvirkeligheten, to be published in Norwegian translation by Solum Bokvennen in autumn 2026.
The evening will conclude with book sales, signing session and a meet & greet.
