„Radical Software: Women, Art & Computing 1960-1991“ ist die erste Ausstellung, die die Geschichte der digitalen Kunst aus einer feministischen Perspektive untersucht. Das ganztägige Symposium, das gemeinsam von der Kunsthalle Wien und der TU Wien organisiert wird, bietet die Möglichkeit einen Einblick in das Thema durch hochkarätige Wissenschaftlerinnen und Künstlerinnen zu gewinnen. In Vorträgen und Podiumsdiskussionen, die in englischer Sprache stattfinden, werden zwei Themengruppen beleuchtet: „Zeros and Ones, Computing before Microprocessing“ und „From the Electronic Cottage to the Virtual World“. Der Schwerpunkt wird auf dem Beitrag von Frauen zur Entwicklung von Computern im Allgemeinen und der digitalen Kunst im Speziellen liegen.--
‘Radical Software: Women, Art & Computing 1960–1991’ is the first exhibition to study the history of digital art from a feminist perspective. This one-day symposium, organised jointly by Kunsthalle Wien and TU Wien, offers the opportunity to gain insight to the subject via highly distinguished academics and artists. A series of presentations and panel discussions will bring together experts from the field of art and science structured in two thematic sessions: ‘Zeros and Ones, Computing before Microprocessing’ and ‘From the Electronic Cottage to the Virtual World’. The emphasis will be on the contribution of women to the development of computers in general and digital art in particular.
