About this Event

Radical Film School x Equalities Work – Film Series #3

Join us at The Foundry for the third installment of the Radical Film School / Equalities Work film series, an evening of powerful visual storytelling, people power and human rights, this time centred on Climate Justice.

Through fiction, realism, horror, and spoken word performance, this curated programme explores the deep connections between the climate emergency and social justice.

This screening is presented in connection with Dissonant Laws, A Foundry exhibition taking place earlier the same day. The exhibition explores themes of dissonance, law, and resistance, examining how legal systems shape artistic dissent, and how creative rebellion can, in turn, reshape ideas of legality. You can reserve a free spot to the exhibition here.

Film Programme

Preservation
Dir. Anna Dobos | 14 mins | Fiction / Horror

Synopsis:
As a sinking island off the English coast faces evacuation, two researchers encounter unsettling phenomena while 3D scanning the landscape. Blending speculative fiction with documentary-style visuals, Preservation explores environmental loss, digital memory, and the limits of technological preservation, asking what happens when what we try to capture refuses to stay still.

There Will Come Soft Rains
Dir. Elham Ehsas | 14 mins | Fiction / Realism

Synopsis:
There Will Come Soft Rains follows protagonist Mira, who defies tradition and her Muslim faith to dig up her father’s grave, leading her on a collision coursewith the authorities, faith and family. The story also emphasises the power of unity, forgiveness and second chances, both in saving ourselves and ourplanet.

Can I Live? (Main Feature)
Conceived, written and performed by Fehinti Balogun| 60 mins

Synopsis:
Why don’t we talk about it? Fehinti Balogun asks this urgent question as he shares his personal journey into the defining challenge of our time. Blending spoken word, rap, theatre, animation and scientific insight, Can I Live? explores the intimate relationship between the environmental crisis and the global struggle for social justice. As a young Black British man, Fehinti reflects on how he found his place within the climate movement. A Complicité production in association with the Barbican, London, supported by Oxford Playhouse and Doc Society Climate Story Fund.

Expect thoughtful discussion, community, and urgent conversation.

Come watch. Come question. Come connect.
