Racism and the Gender Pay Gap 2026 by Women of Colour Staff Network

Did you know that while the University's overall gender pay gap has narrowed, significant pay gaps remain for some ethnic groups, particularly Pacific, Asian, and MELAA communities?

Join us for Racism and the Gender Pay Gap 2026, a panel discussion hosted by the Women of Colour Staff Network, exploring how we can create a more equitable workplace for everyone at Waipapa Taumata Rau.

Through a conversation with expert panellists, followed by facilitated table discussions, we'll explore how the University's Gender Equity Strategy and Plan can support meaningful change, and share practical ideas for improving staff experiences across the University. The discussion is designed to be interactive, with opportunities to reflect, contribute perspectives, and learn from colleagues in an informal and supportive environment.

Audrea Warner (Facilitator)
Assistant Dean Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Business School. Audrea brings extensive experience advancing equity and inclusion within higher education and will guide a conversation focused on practical change and collective action.

Associate Professor Sereana Naepi
A leading scholar of equity, decolonisation, and systemic change in higher education. Sereana's research challenges traditional power structures and offers powerful insights into creating more equitable academic environments.

Rachel Tapera
Founder and Director of the Inclusive Research Centre. Rachel works alongside organisations and communities to strengthen inclusion through research, evaluation, and culturally grounded approaches that support meaningful participation.

Yasmine Serhan
Former early childhood teacher and experienced Union organiser. Yasmine is passionate about working alongside a diverse community of professionals and workers to improve working conditions and amplify shared voices.
