RACHMANINOFF AND THE TSAR

Sergei Rachmaninoff’s music is beloved the world over. From his infamous Prelude to his Second Piano Concerto and the Paganini Variations, his music has been at the forefront of the musical stage as well as scores of Hollywood movies. Having safely left Russia during the 1917 revolution, Rachmaninoff eventually made his home in the United States but always longed for the Tsarist Russia that he knew and loved as a young man. For the first time, Hershey Felder, actor and pianist in the role of Rachmaninoff, will appear on stage with another actor, British-Italian Jonathan Silvestri in the role of Tsar Nicholas II. Bringing this haunting story of the Tsar and his family and Rachmaninoff’s involvement with them to life, this promises to be another mystical musical journey in the Hershey Felder style that Theatreworks patrons have come to know and love.
