Rachel Fry & Alice Sandom-Cook: A Mother–Daughter Exhibition at CurwensThis November, Curwens Gallery in Royston is proud to host a special exhibition celebrating the creativity of Rachel Fry and her daughter Alice Sandom-Cook.
Rachel Fry, this month’s featured artist, presents a bold and varied collection of lino prints, silkscreens, and paintings. Trained in Fine Art in London with a specialism in printmaking, Rachel went on to teach art and design in North London and Cambridgeshire before dedicating herself fully to her own practice. Her inspiration comes from the world around her, fish, people, flowers, animals, or even classic cars—reimagined with striking patterns, rich colours, and a confident graphic style.
Alongside Rachel’s work, her daughter Alice Sandom-Cook introduces her latest jewellery collection. A decorative artist with a background in textiles, Alice designs digitally and laser cuts acrylic earrings, as well as hand-painting wooden pieces sealed with resin. Her playful and contemporary designs, each pair unique, provide a vibrant complement to her mother’s exhibition.
Together, their work creates a dynamic dialogue between generations—Rachel’s confident printmaking and painting grounded in fine art tradition, alongside Alice’s creative, design-led jewellery.
