About this Event
Join the Office of Commissioner Rodney Ellis and Houston Parks Board on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2025, from 11 AM to 1 PM to celebrate the grand opening of the Rabbi Samuel Karff Bridge, a new pedestrian bridge across Brays Bayou near Stella Link! The ribbon cutting event will occur along the south side of Brays Bayou near the intersection of S Braeswood Boulevard and Linkmeadow Lane where the Outdoor Gym is located.
The event celebrates the completion of construction on a 634-linear foot pedestrian bridge across Brays Bayou from North Braeswood to South Braeswood boulevards. The project, funded by Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis, included a memorial area dedicated to Rabbi Karff, trail connections to the sidewalk along North Braeswood, and landscaping on both sides of the bridge.
The pedestrian bridge is being named after the late Rabbi Samuel Karff, who served as the Senior Rabbi of Congregation Beth Israel from 1975 to 1999 and was a strong advocate for civil rights, social justice, and equality. He passed away on Aug. 15, 2020. Let's celebrate this milestone together!
Due to limited parking options, event attendees are encouraged to bicycle or walk to the event using the Brays Bayou Greenway (click here to see the greenway map). Also, people are encouraged to carpool or take the 68 Braeswood Eastbound to METRO Bus to stop 4128 (closest to the event), or the 68 Braeswood Westbound to 4074, or 4075.
Event Parking: Please park at 3801 Glen Arbor Drive; use the new pedestrian bridge to take a nice walk across the bayou to the event site or along the residential streets of Linkmeadow or Llona Lane.
Please dress according to the weather, as the event will be outdoors.
