Course aims
To develop the knowledge of health care staff in surgical breast reconstruction procedure.
Course objectives
- History of breast reconstruction
- Types of breast reconstruction Free Flaps, pedicled flaps, and symmetrising surgery
- Gene Carrier & Family History Services RSCH (deciding on risk reducing surgery & reconstruction)
- The real patient experience of reconstruction and Restore information events
- Psychological impact
- The CNS service provided

0830 - 0850 Registration - Breakfast with tea, coffee and pastries
0850 - 0900 Welcome to Queen Victoria Hospital
0900 - 0930 History of breast reconstruction
0930 - 1030 Free flap reconstruction including complex/multiple flaps
1030- 1100 Morning tea & coffee break
1100- 1200 Gene Carrier & Family History Services RSCH (deciding on risk reducing surgery & reconstruction)
1200 - 1230 Secondary/salvage breast reconstruction surgery
1230 - 1300 Symmetrising Surgery
1300 – 1400 Lunch provided
1400 - 1445 Patient stories
Restore charity & 'Show & Tell' information events
1445 – 1515 Psychological Therapy – The service available @ QVH & its place within the reconstructive journey
1515 – 1530 Comfort break, tea & coffee
