Quilting Your Quilt: Confident Machine Quilting - Hurworth

Have a quilt top waiting to be finished but aren't sure how to quilt it? Or would you like to learn more about machine quilting on a domestic sewing machine?
This practical workshop is designed to help you gain confidence with domestic machine quilting and explore a variety of quilting designs that can be achieved on a standard sewing machine.
Bring a quilt of your own that is layered and pinned ready to quilt, or make and quilt a sample quilt (approximately 30" or larger) using the pattern provided before the workshop.
During the day we will cover:
• Planning your quilting design
• Choosing suitable threads and needles
• Stitch choices and machine settings
• Using quilting stencils and marking tools
• Walking foot quilting ideas
• Free-motion quilting techniques
• Ways to add texture and interest to your quilts
• Practical tips for managing larger quilts on a domestic machine
This workshop is suitable for quilters who would like to move beyond stitch-in-the-ditch and simple echo quilting, as well as those looking for guidance on quilting a current project.
The workshop fee includes:
• Workshop tuition
• Pattern for the sample quilt
• Handouts
• Tea, coffee and biscuits
Please note that this is not a longarm quilting workshop and we will not be using quilting rulers. To make the most of the day, quilts should arrive layered and pinned, as there may not be sufficient space or time to prepare them during the workshop.
Places are limited and advance booking is required.
