Learn basic quilting techniques with us and apply these skills to different exciting sewing projects. Have you ever looked at a beautiful quilt or quilted accessory and wished you could make something like that? Create a basic quilting block and experiment with colour and geometry to discover the versatility of quilting and patchwork techniques.
The course will include two sessions, the 3 and 10 of November
2:30-5 pm.
Maybe you could make a table runner or table mats? Or why not come along with your own ideas and we’ll help you turn them into beautiful items to treasure or to give as handmade gifts?
By the end of the course, you will learn how to:
- Design a quilted block
- Cut out the relevant shapes, blocks and backing
- layout the design
- Batting and backing the quilt
- How to bind the final design
- How to finish the quilt professionally
- Learn the relevant care guidelines for your finished quilt
We will also look at using reclaimed, sustainable fabrics and the role of sewing machines, rotary cutters, and cutting mats in quilting. This short course will cover all you need to know to get started in this absorbing, creative and rewarding craft. All equipment and materials will be provided. No previous knowledge is required.
The small workshop size ensures valuable one-to-one teacher and participant time, allowing maximum engagement and assistance.

To keep the class focused on everyone’s personal needs, numbers will be limited to 5 students per workshop. Please note that the course will only go ahead if we receive a minimum of 3 bookings. In the event that we need to cancel the class, you will be reimbursed.
