A Quilt Blessing will be during worship on Sunday, May 26, before they are taken to Lutheran World Relief to be distributed around the world. Beautiful quilts created by the Lord of Life Quilters will cover the pews at both campuses. MORE ON LORD OF LIFE QUILTERS
This group began making quilts for Lutheran World Relief (LWR) in 2003, and since that time we have produced over 3,200 quilts, including about 80 quilts made so far in 2024.
The quilts made at Lord of Life are taken to a LWR warehouse in New Windsor, Maryland, where they are packaged and sent overseas to areas like India, Africa, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey (after the earthquake), and Ukraine. Founded by Lutherans in the United States at the end of World War II, grounded in Lutheran theology, and building on decades of experience, Lutheran World Relief tackles global poverty by helping people adapt to the challenges that threaten their livelihoods and well-being.
LWR works with people based on need, regardless of race, religion, or nationality. First and foremost, recipients use their LWR Quilts to shield against the cold and rain, and for warm bedding. But their versatility also makes the quilts useful as simple tents, floor coverings, or a wrap to hold a baby on a mother’s back.
