About this Event
Friends of the Quffas and Drifter Coffee have partnered to plan a fun family friendly event to raise money for the Quffa family, who is trapped in Gaza seeking refuge in Egypt.
The family consists of:
Rateb Quffa: Meet our friend Rateb from Gaza. He's a 30 year old father of two who has a penchant for luxury and style. Before the genocide, Rateb worked in sales, enjoyed cars, good food, and time with his family. His favorite color is black, which reflects his elegant style. Unfortunately, after October 7th, 2023, Rateb has been unable to enjoy his favorite foods (mensaf, rice, and grilled meats), and wants nothing more than to get his wife, mother, and two small kids to safety by crossing the border into Egypt.
Haneen Quffa: Meet Haneen, a 26-year-old mother of two who loves curling up under a tree with a good book. She loves cooking, hanging out with family, and listening to Quran. Her world turned upside down when Israeli forces ordered her and her family to leave their home on October 7th. Before the genocide, Haneen enjoyed fresh fish, watching Bollywood movies, and embracing the outdoors. Now, she dreams of moving her family from Gaza to Egypt, where her sister and brother-in-law will welcome them. Her greatest wish is for a secure and promising future for her little ones.
Adam Quffa: Meet 6 year old Adam. Adam is an adventurous kindergartener who loves playing ball, and "driving" cars. He loves eating fish (especially shrimp!), and going for a good swim. Adam's childhood has been forever changed since October 7th and wants nothing more than to have toys to play with, and to go back to being a care-free kid.
Amira Quffa: Meet Amira (or as we all call her: "Princess Amira"). Amira is a fiercely independent 2.5 year old on the move! She loves playing with make-up with her mama, playing with Barbie dolls, picking out her own clothes, and getting her picture taken. Since the genocide started, Amira has faced many issues that many of us could never imagine. Illness, fear of bombardment, and missing out on all of her favorite foods (she loves EVERYTHING!). She's looking forward to the day where she can play without a care in the world.
Faryal Quffa: Meet Faryal, the matriarch of the Quffa family. Faryal loves her family, and her religion (Islam). She enjoys reading and reciting Quran, and praying her 5 obligatory daily prayers. Faryal had a serious back operation a week and a half prior to the genocide, and has been unable to properly heal causing her immense pain and suffering while surviving the genocide. She wants nothing more than to find peace, safety, and to get the medical attention she deserves so she can one day preform Hajj.
This family is looking for refuge in Egypt to recover from the senseless violence and evil they've experienced, and together we've been working to raise the money they need to evacuate to Egypt and recover and start a new life.
Please join us at Quffapalooza where we will have food trucks, Drifter Coffee bar, Dabke dancers, face painting, music, poetry reading, speakers, silent auction, and more!
The Silent Auction will consist of items donated by friends, family, and local businesses.
All money raised from ticket sales, beverage sales, and silent auction will be donated to this family to escape and start a new life.
If you'd like to donate directly now, follow this link to their gofundme.
