ℹ️ Course Outline:
Improved patient awareness and high predictability of dental implant treatment has seen a significant increase in its uptake. Consequently, there is a need for General Dental Practitioners to have a good basic knowledge of dental implantology and skills in this area of Dentistry, which is witnessing a fast-paced change. This course is aimed at beginners to ensure that knowledge is obtained in a safe learning environment and that they are able to apply it in their daily clinical practice.
✅ Aims and Objectives:
• Obtain an overall perspective of dental implantology with an evidence-based approach.
• Gain the necessary surgical and restorative skill set to implement simple treatment plans.
• Understand the challenges involved in the surgical and prosthetic phases of treatment.
• Refer appropriately based on skill levels.
✅ Outcomes:
On completion of the course, participants should be able to:
1. Diagnose and carry out treatment planning for patients requiring dental implant-based treatment.
2. Carry out initial risk assessments and consent patients appropriately.
3. Insert and restore dental implants under supervision in a simulated environment.
4. Identify the complexity of individual cases and place dental implants in simple cases under supervision, as well as understanding when to refer for additional support and guidance based on treatment needs and their skill set.
5. Describe the challenges presented in the surgical and prosthetic phases of treatment.
