Queer your Closet: a textile crafting event at Gallery Wrightwood
About this Event
Join us at Gallery Wrightwood for a Pride crafting event where we turn a piece of clothing into wearable art!
Come prep your outfit for the Chicago parade the next day or just come join the crafty queers in our chill workshop space if that's more your party speed! The space is drop-in from 2-6pm, so come anytime in that window that you'd like to join in the fun!
Crafty queer artists from the neighborhood will be on hand to advice and help you create a custom clothing look - bring a piece from home you love and want to edit or make fit better (ie, a T shirt you have outgrown but still love! or a shirt that fits well but you needs some pizzaz! or a shirt to crop! Or a party or drag look you want to work on!) OR pick something fun from our pop-up fashion closet to rework, provided by The Parlor by Trash People!
Bring supplies if you'd like or use ours, it's an open crafting space for creativity and fun! We'll have at least one sewing machine on hand and a person to run it, as well as fabric paint and bleach, bedazzling tools, and much more.
The event is free, but you are welcome to donate to continue the work of Gallery Wrightwood and make more free community art events possible!
This event is family friendly, children are welcome if present with a parent or guardian to accompany them and help them with their crafting!
