Queer Weight Lifting Meetup

Join us every Tuesday to hangout and lift weights with other queer people!!! All ages, levels of experience, and forms of exercise are welcome.

Drop in on Tuesdays from 5:30 to 8:30pm at 400 Sparks St., Ottawa, ON (St. Peter’s Lutheran Church). Our equipment will be fully set up before 6pm.

We'll have snacks, water, and some weight lifting equipment available. Everyone is encouraged to bring their own equipment when manageable to transport (e.g., yoga mats). See our website for a full list of available equipment.

We (the organizers) are not personal trainers, and the event is not meant to be instructional. However, we are always happy to provide guidance for anyone who wants it.

Feel free to drop-in at any time and join us for however long you want :)

Accessibility (please read):

Everyone is required to sign a waiver for liability reasons due to the heavy weight lifting equipment involved. Please read the whole waiver form carefully before signing (link on our website). We will have blank waivers available to be signed as people arrive, but you could print and sign one ahead of time if you want. Put the main name that we will be using for you (no deadnames on the waiver please!). 

If you're under 18, please make sure a legal guardian can sign the waiver. There's no mention of "queer" on the under 18 waiver. 

The church’s back entrance will be unlocked. If you need the door opened for you, ring the doorbell.

There is a staircase immediately following the back entrance. Unfortunately, there is no doorbell at the wheelchair accessible front entrance. To use the wheelchair accessible entrance, contact us, and we will hold the door open for you. The door will otherwise remain locked. There will be contact methods posted on the door. Please email us if you need the contact methods ahead of time. There will be posters at both doors with instructions.

Masks are very strongly encouraged. We will provide masks. We understand if there are circumstances that prevent you from masking. 

There is a quiet area with seating and low-lighting. There is also a park across the street where you can take a break if needed.

The church has two gender neutral restrooms, one is wheelchair accessible. 

There is a paid parking lot at the church. There is also street parking nearby.
