Queer Nature Hike
About this Event
Are you queer and love the outdoors? Come to our FREE nature hike! Taking a guided hike through the Heartlake Conservation Area, join us in admiring the landscapes and nature followed by a cyanotype/anthotype sun printing craft!
We will meet at the tennis courts on Richvale Drive, between Sacred Heart Elementary and Robert H Lagerquist Sr. Public School.
IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ
*Type of anthotype will either be cyanotope or tumeric. if allergic to either please let organizers know.
There are many locations to find free parking near the entrance point we are starting at - some of which are school lots. If you do not feel comfortable parking there, Sandalwood Plaza is just south of the meeting point and has numerous parking spaces. We will provide photos below to explain where to go. PARKING INSIDE THE CONSERVATION AREA COSTS MONEY. If severe weather occurs, this event will be cancelled, however mild rain or wind will not stop the hike (and an alternative craft will be provided given the conditions). A route has been pre-planned but we can make adjustments based off the groups needs if need be.
If you are disabled and/or use a mobility aid that is not suitable for hiking, you are welcome to join for the sunprinting craft at the meeting point. Please note that parking INSIDE the conservation area will cost money. If this appeals to you please email seperatley for more details on further guidance.
TICK PREVENTION
To be mindful of the uprise in tick population and very real danger that is possible whilst participating in an outdoor activity, organizers will have first aid and tick removal protocols in place. Please dress accordingly for the weather.
Extra: If you have photo negatives (only works with negatives), small doo-dads, or garment you'd like to use for the craft instead of the provided materials please feel free!
