About this Event
Thursday evenings 7:15 -8:30pm at Horsell Village Hall in the Bedser Room (which is at the back of the building)
Upcoming schedule:
- 9th Dec - Restful yin
- 16th Dec - Full moon celebration yin
- 13th Jan - Full moon softness yin
- 20th Jan - Self compassion yin
- 27th Jan - New moon class
- 3rd Feb - Moving through winter, slow yin
In each 75 minute class we will be doing a meditation, pranayama (breathing techniques) , and an hour of yin yoga with adjustments offered for each pose. Yin yoga is a slow paced practice that involves holding asanas (postures) for around 5 mins each, targeting the connective tissues and fascia. It is amazing for releasing trauma from the body and is a very meditative practice where we focus a lot on the breath.
Each class will have a theme and focused intention setting and journaling prompts sent to you the next day for reflection.
I invite you to show up as you are and make time for yourself in this queer friendly space. Please wear whatever you feel most comfortable in that will allow you to move freely!
There is free parking on site for the Village Hall
What to bring:
- A mat (I will have a small number available for those who don't have one - please message me)
- A pillow or 2 - can be a small sofa cushion
- A bottle of water
- A blanket or 2
About the teacher:
Hi! I'm Kai (or Soph) they/them - TrueYouYoga @trueyou.yoga and I'm a queer yoga teacher currently based in Woking, Surrey. I've been practising yoga for 8 years and completed my 200hr YTT in April 2023 where I focused my teaching on Yin and Restorative yoga.
Yoga has always been so healing for me and I'm SUPER passionate about making yoga/spiritual spaces more inclusive and inviting to queer people.
Feeling safe and comfortable in your body isn't always an easy thing, especially for LGBTQ+ people. Through my teaching I aim to create a place for you to rest, be gentle with yourself and be more present in your body. Yoga is not about being flexible or looking a certain way, it's about cultivating inner peace and moving in ways that feel good to you!
My classes are open to anyone and will each have a theme, suggested journal prompts to take away and will often be influenced by the moon phases we are in e.g. full moon class. I look forward to connecting with you soon x
